L’art du chocolat at French Bistro Ghyslain a Success!

Everything you wanted to know about chocolate and were afraid to ask…or maybe it never occurred to you…or you just know you like it and that’s enough!  Whatever the feelings and emotions of the participants at the beginning of this 2 hour Saturday afternoon class, they walked out more informed, more excited, more sugared up and more able to order their own chocolate in France!

Chocolatier Ghyslain and Los Monitos Language Center partnered to produce this unique chocolate program.  All who attended gained a wealth of knowledge about chocolate, chocolate-making, tastings paired with a port, some “chocolate” orieneted French lessons and a special discount to the Ghyslain chocolate store afterward!  Don’t worry…if you missed it this time, it will return soon!

Spanish Language and Dining Experience at Mayan Cafe Begins!

Wednesday night marked the launch of the 3-Week Spanish Language and Dining Experience – newly arrived at Mayan Cafe!  The evening began with a fresh amuse-bouche [def: noun \ˈä-ˌmüz-ˈbüsh, -ˌmuez-\  a small complimentary appetizer offered at some restaurants; Origin of AMUSE-BOUCHE: French, literally, (it) entertains (the) mouth] of Guacamole and Chips.  Native Mexican instructor Sara then began to orient the group into the Mayan Culture, common dining rituals and Spanish expressions (like the one about knowing whether or not you just offered to pick up the check for everyone!)

The culmination of the evening was the arrival of the official tasting of the evening – salbutes with black beans & goat cheese, topped with cabbage and served with a side of house-made jalapeño puree!  Wonderful!  And on top of that, Chef Bruce Ucán came out and presented the tasting and talked about his background and cooking philosophy.  See more in these videos:

Los Monitos Announces French Chocolate-Making Program “L’art du chocolat”

Los Monitos Language Center and Ghyslain have just announced their collaboration on a really sweet program…no, really, it’s totally about sweets.  Well, praline chocolates to be exact.  Ghyslain, which just celebrated its first year at its Louisville location, is first and foremost a chocolatier – he’s a chocolate maker.  And he’s really good at it.

It was philsopher, Forrest Gump, who quipped,

“Life is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.”

That may be true, but in this 1-day, 2 hour program, but if Chocolatier Ghyslain has anything to say about it, you will know EXACTLY what you’re getting!  For more information about this chocolate-making workshop, tasting, french-speaking, take-home and discount shopping program, CLICK HERE.
